Looking Forward to the New Year

Here we are again, the New Year is bearing down on us. It is time to make those pesky New Year’s resolutions.

The mere thought of them is daunting. Our mind is telling us it’s tradition and we have to do it. But our more negative self is telling us it’s a waste of time, we never keep them. Remember, there are no “resolution” police.  No one will come after us if we don’t follow through.

This conflict of crisis we have on New Year’s Eve can actually set us up…we start off the New Year expecting to fail.

If you decide to make one or two resolutions this year, keep these things in mind:

  • Keep them manageable
  • Make them realistic
  • Ask yourself the five ‘W’s.’
  1. Who will I need, if anyone, to help me keep my resolution/s? (e.g., family, business associates)
  2. What is the specific resolution/s I want to make? (e.g., grow my business, increase my salary)
  3. Where will I carry out my resolution/s ? (e.g., home, business, personal life)
  4. When will I begin? (give it urgency and set a date)
  5. How am I going to keep them? (e.g., go to the gym, increase sales calls, hire more staff)

Whatever you decide to do on New Year’s Eve, make this your year to succeed. You don’t need a resolution for that. All you need is perseverance, patience and a positive attitude to make 2016 your best year ever.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

With regards,

Karen
